The holiday season is almost here, aren’t you excited! We put up our tree this past weekend and decorated the house inside and out. Our tree is enormous and beautiful, it almost touches the ceiling in our vaulted living room. The is the first time I had to decorate the tree on a ladder, but it was worth it because it’s just perfect.

The outside of the home is decorated with pretty homemade decorations and lots of lights, bows and wreaths in every window. And now I’m thinking about gifts for family and friends and all those important people in our lives.

One gift that I’ve always cherished from friends are homemade cookie mixes, but I’ve never actually given any out as gifts. So this year I decided to create the perfect cookie recipe, jar it up, and give it away!

I’ve actually created two different recipes, one for a M&M’S® Sprinkle Cookie and one for a M&M’S® Chocolate Chip Cookie. Both have the same base cookie mix, so these gifts will be super easy to make.

I’m going to be making 10 jars as gifts, so I got lots of ingredients. I got 3 (2lb) bags of all purpose flour, a 4lb bags of white sugar and 2 (2lb) bags of brown sugar. I also picked up the star of this recipe, a bag ofRed & Green Holiday 52 oz. M&M’S® from Sam’s Club.

This 52oz. bag of red and green M&M’S® are a festive and fun addition for fun gifts like this, as well as lots of other baking, decorating and gift gifting holiday activities. I like to keep a bag in the pantry just to refill candy dishes in my home too.

The stand up pack is super convenient when your cooking and baking and fits in the pantry nicely. The bag is also resealable and keeps your candy fresh, so you don’t have to transfer the candies into a storage container after opening.

The Red & Green Holiday 52 oz. Bag of M&M’S® is available in Peanut and Milk Chocolate. For both of the recipes featured, I used M&M’S® Milk Chocolate.

This is the M&M’S® Chocolate Chip Cookie. It bakes up soft and beautiful.

And this is the M&M’S® Sprinkle Cookie. It’s delicious and fun and makes such a pretty jar mix!

For each cookie mix, start with 1/2 cup white sugar, then 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. Then sift together1 2/3 cup all purpose flour,3/4 teaspoon salt and3/4 teaspoon baking soda and add that to the jar. Next I add the red and greenM&M’S® and then either the sprinkles or the chocolate chips. Then attach the lid!

Next just take any ribbon you like and make a cute bow. Now you also need some directions on these cookie mixes. Here I’ve made some ready to use printables. These are the right size for the lid, or for attaching to the side of the jar.
