Golf club kitchen ordered shut for rodent issue, plus insects land on food at Sawgrass Mills bakery (2024)

Records show over 110 rodent droppings were found inside The Club at Emerald Hills in Hollywood last week. Rodent bait was discovered as well.

More than 130 rodent droppings were also found inside Sidewalk Chef Kitchen in Fort Lauderdale.

Restaurants are inspected by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

No places were ordered shut in Miami-Dade County or the Florida Keys last week.

All the places ordered shut were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection.

In storage room upstairs away from main kitchen near reach in chest freezers, 1) Approximately 50 droppings on shelves in empty cabinet in corner of room 2) Approximately 60 droppings on floor under unused desks and around front of cabinet.”

“Rodent bait not contained in a covered, tamper-resistant bait station. Exposed rodent bait on floor and inside empty shelving unit in upstairs storage room away from main kitchen.”

“Employee failed to wash hands before putting on gloves to initiate a task working with food. Employee cracked raw shell eggs and changed gloves without first washing hands. Reviewed proper hand washing procedures and employee washed hands.”

“Ceiling/ceiling tile shows damage or is in disrepair. Ceiling tile in old office located in unused upstairs kitchen has hole next to a/c vent.”

“No soap provided at hand wash sink. At hand sink by stairs to upstairs dry storage area.”

“Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. Observed raw egg wash stored above ready to eat eggplant in walk-in cooler.”
