I think it is very important to have some good appetizers in ones repertoire, especially a few easy recipes. Like this easy and delicious green goddess dip with avocado.

This is a very easy dip recipe to make. It takes just 10 minutes to put together, but tastes absolutely delicious. Adding avocado gives it a beautiful green color and makes the dip airy, creamy and yummy.

Typically herbs are a must in every green goddess recipe. So in this version, I add cilantro and mint to the avocado. But you can use any of your favorite herbs like parsley, basil, tarragon etc. are all perfect.

This green goddess dip is great to serve with veggies and/ or chips. But the recipe is quite versatile. You can thin it out and use it as a dressing for salads or rice bowls.

The best part of this dip is that it can be made ahead of time. Because of the addition of yogurt and lime, avocado does not discolor like traditional guacamole. So, do try this avocado dip recipe, I am sure you will love it as much as we do.

Ingredients

For the details of the exact quantities of each ingredient and the list of ingredients needed, check the printable recipe card below.

Here are the ingredients you need to make this green goddess dip recipe:

  • Avocado ~ to choose avocado, squeeze it gently and it should be slightly firm and not overly soft or mushy. Also check under the stem or cap at the top. The area underneath it should be green. If it is brown then it is overripe and best to avoid.
  • Plain Yogurt ~ feel free to use either regular or Greek yogurt. If vegan, use dairy free yogurt - I love to use cashew or coconut yogurt.
  • Scallions ~ optional, but I love the slight onion flavor these add. You can also use chopped chives instead.
  • Herbs ~ you can add any of your favorite herbs. Cilantro, mint, parsley, basil, tarragon etc. are all great options. Pick 2~3 different herbs to make the dip.
  • Garlic cloves ~ optional
  • Lemon or lime juice
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper
